Last Saturday, I participated in a podcast brought to you by Cbs-Fm or Cupcakes Broadcasting Studio as part of the NYC Grassroots Media Conference. My segment was called Spoken, Not Said and I recited my own spoken word pieces including three from my thesis project 30 stories. I also featured a piece by spoken word poet Rives. The archived stream should be up by the end of the week.
Another event sponsored by Gaia, this is a wearable technology/art show. I will be modeling Pollie Barden’s peices.

And here is some press on the show
I had the amazing privilege this past President’s Day to visit the studios of 6 female artists which was part of the P.S. 1 WACK! Open Studio Tour. This was in support of the WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution show that is currently at PS 1. It was organized by the Gaia Studio, a women’s art collective here in the city. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to visit Nancy Spero’s studio but the other 6 studios provided an intimate look into the working world of artists. In some ways it was a step back in time when SOHO was filled with these studios. I was particularly impressed with the work of Joyce Kozloff and Joan Semmel. Also, many people had the chance to talk with the artists about their work. Joyce Kozloff talked about her art book “Boy’s Art” and Camille Billups discussed her family history and the current state of art. All in all it was a great day.
